A vibrant and fun afternoon of acknowledging and celebrating Black History directly in the heart of Brighton: an event for people of all ages. Doors open at 2pm and there will be a Gospel music performance by Kingdom Choir prior to the official welcome by Cllr Simon Burgess and the launch of the logo competition. Following this there will be a West African Dance and Drumming Performance. Throughout the afternoon there will be various activities, the majority of which will take place outdoors.

  • face painting (courtesy of MOSAIC Black and Mixed Parentage Family Group)
  • a bouncy castle
  • various stalls selling food, music, clothing and literature of particular relevance to BHM
  • various stalls for BME community and voluntary sector organisations to publicise their services

  • a Capoeira performance

In addition, there will be activities taking place inside the library:

  • story telling
  • an exhibition and a short film about the Taino and the Carib Indigenous peoples of the Caribbean

The afternoon will be rounded off by a rousing dance performance by Bhangra Group Four by Four.
